Holdouts was able to track down the source of the LAG spikes that have
been occurring on the Ricochet servers during the past few weeks. They did
trace routes to the servers at the same time that the spikes were occurring. It
was determined there were 5-10 seconds of massive latency at a router in
their ISP's datacenter. The results were sent to the network admin and Stefan
from Holdouts will follow-up to confirm/discuss what was found. This will give
the ISP proof that there is a network hardware problem and now ensure the
datacenter staff replace/fix the router. Stefan will make sure that the problem
is resolved as soon as possible as he knows it is aggravating to the players.
A big thanks to Stefan and Holdouts for working hard to determine the cause
of the problem as it has been difficult because it was an intermittent problem.
Also, Stefan wanted to point out the bandwidth of the game servers is not
one or multiple T1's but a 20 Gigabit connection to ensure there are no
bandwidth issues while playing.
