Quote:HASBRO TO BRING G.I. JOE TO THE BIG SCREEN
IN FULL-LENGTH, LIVE-ACTION MOVIE

- Film Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to Develop And Produce -

PAWTUCKET, R.I., September 16, 2003 – Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE:HAS) announced
today an agreement with prominent film producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura
to develop and produce a full-length, live-action feature film based on
Hasbro’s legendary G.I. JOE brand.

“A G.I. JOE live-action movie is a natural,” said di Bonaventura, a
film producer and former Executive Vice President and Head of Worldwide
Production and Domestic Marketing for Warner Brothers. “Three
generations of children grew up with the G.I. JOE brand and after
nearly 40 years, it’s an honor to be able to bring the saga and its
characters to life on movie screens.”

“A live-action film will deliver high energy and non-stop excitement to
the millions of fathers and sons that share awesome memories of G.I.
JOE,” said Brian Goldner, President of Hasbro’s U.S. Toys Segment.
“Lorenzo has an amazing track-record for picking winners in the
entertainment industry and we are thrilled at his enthusiasm and
approach towards the G.I. JOE brand.”

When Hasbro launched the G.I. JOE brand in 1964, it gave the world its
very first “action figure” and defined childhood for millions of fans
around the world. Since then, G.I. JOE has come to symbolize
patriotism, honor and courage, and is one of the best-selling male
action brands of all time. With double-digit increases in toy sales
over the past four years, it is clear that a new generation of boys
have discovered the excitement of the G.I. JOE brand.

“The depth of the G.I. JOE brand provides incredible opportunities to
integrate the property into many lifestyle areas,” said Jane
Ritson-Parsons, President of the Hasbro Properties Group. “From a
highly successful publishing program to a wide variety of relevant
consumer product categories, we are able to involve fans of all ages
into the adventurous world of G.I. JOE.”

While at Warner Brothers, di Bonaventura oversaw production of the
Harry Potter series of films, the Matrix series, and Scooby-Doo, among
many others. He is currently producing the Warner Brothers feature
film Constantine, starring Keanu Reeves, and based on the comic book
Hellblazer.

While I don't know how good a live action version of Gi. Joe will be, I'm still gonna see it. :D

I'm also waiting for the live action versions of Dragon Ball Z and Evangelion.

I'm very interested to see how the Evangelion one turns out. Its just hard to imagine real looking bots the size of a 40 or 50 story building running around, but I still think its gonna kick butt...

ok ya so what if I'm a die hard fan of Evangelion.:D
Whoa.... Live action evangelion. Hope it's as deep as the show/movie.

Wish they'd make Hellsing into a live action.
From my understanding they are still in talks about the live action Evangelion. I have heard so many people say its gonna suck, so many people say its gonna rule.. I say if it sucks or rules... I'm gonna see it. There isn't too many things that they could do to make it worse then episodes 25 and 26. LOL
Those were the happy ending ones weren't they? Can't be as bad as The Day the Earth Exploded, though that was in another league; B-grADe.
Id be intrested in seeing dbz done in live action, just to see how they do the fight sequences.
god!...the "fist of the north star" live action movie was hideous. i loved the fist of the north star manga but thought the feature-length anime brought to the states was mediocre. they could of saved themselves w/ the live action movie but failed horribly...now there's nothing left of what should of been a memorable franchise.:(

i loved when he (ken: the north star) would quikly hit someone in the face and the bad guy would say "is that all you got?! now, i'm going to kill you!" and then ken would calmly say "how? you're already dead."...and then the bad guy's head would blow up...hahaha:lol:

Saw someone in game with a name like that...
Evangelion movie? Wow.

It better not be a big power ranger episode with japs walking around cardboard cities in suits.

I think that the rights might look like the ones in the matrix, but with more energy balls flying around. As long as there isn't 5 or 10 minutes of people just standing around looking at each other, sizing each other up then it should be good.

Here are a few links for the live action DBZ

I know, i've seen the first 5 or 6 episodes. :D And thats the first thing I thought too when I seen it was Evangelion. Robot Jox was an "interesting" movie. For the year that it came out (1990 I believe), it was pretty good, but it should have maybe done a little more of the robots fighting but it was still pretty good.

I'm still looking for good links for the live action evangelion movie, but so far I can't find anything official. I have heard that the same company that did the special effects for Lord of The Rings will be doing the special effects for the movie. While I'm not a big fan of LOTR the FXs were pretty good.

You know, I'd be interested in a Resident Evil style mod done for HL.. and now I've opened me gob and said that I'll find there is one....
Resident Evil Mod for HL has been in the making for over 2 yers now I think. I don't know if it is ever going to come out though. Let not ruin Gwar's post here though about it.
