Ok...I'm not that familar with IRC but I got a good program and tried to log onto the chat server. That hasn't worked all day. Then I tried to use the web based. That hasn't worked yet either. Any ideas why its not working or is the chat server down or am I just stupid?
To get the Web based IRC to work you need this

The best software to use for IRC is
mIRC Its always being updated. It is pay to use, but there have been a few people that sent in payment for it and never got the code for it. Once the time is up for it, it just gives you an annoying pop up thing when you start it up, nothing major, just annoying. From what I can tell all the functions are still there.
I installed it and it still doesn't connect

or something like that
It times out

Did you click yes to the security pop-up?
If you don't click yes to the security warning popup you get:
"Unable to connect : java.security.AccessControlException : access denied (java.net.SocketPermission irc.gamesurge.net resolve) "
So reload the web irc and click yes to the warning.
If you don't get a popup, what browser are you using?
If you're planning on staying in the channel for a long time, I'd recommend you download Mirc, but if it's just to say hi once in awhile, web-based irc.
The second time the popup came up, I clicked always. So I dunno.
Currently I am using Firefox.

I tried it in IE and the same thing happened. Connection timed out
Another exception...I'm lost now.

Might not be you, gamesurge has been having a lot of problems with some of its servers. I'm suspecting its the java not able to connect to the server.
Gwarsbane just updated the server address, it should work now.
Just tried and I got the same error... Maybe I'm just stupid.
When you get the error, the only thing I can suggest is trying to change the server yourself.
Try clearing your temp internet files and cookies.
When it says not connected type this:
/server Kanzi.CA.US.GameSurge.Net
if that doesn't work try "either" of the below.
/server Tukikohta.FI.EU.GameSurge.Net
/server Olympus.CA.US.GameSurge.net
And if THAT doesn't work, are you behind a router or software firewall?
Whatever the school has but I can log into and do anything I want. It hasn't stopped me before. Weird though. Still can't log in. I just want to chat!! :(

Not any personal ones. Only whatever the university has here. I can do pretty much anything else without the university preventing me so I doubt the are preventing a chat room. But no I don't have anyof those up.
