the guy who delivers coke to the same stores as I do ask me to work on his computer, and I said yes so I get it home and open it up and this is what I found....anyone know how to get smoke and dust off of a motherboard and pci cards?
2
3 the second slot for ram on the MB is completely filled to where putting another stick in would be impossible
Holy crap that guy is sry to say stupid!
how did this happen?

put it in a paper bag with a endust cloth and shake

thats how you clean dusty house plants
;)
I still think you should smash someone (thats not me) in the head with it untill all the dirt is gone.:D
There is electronic cleaner you can get, but I dont think it will remove that much dust/dirt. Your best bet is to try and get most of it off manually, In a similar way GRITS suggested, and then go with the electronic cleaner, then hope it got enough of it off.
Use a compressed air can, those work real well

Sure use compressed air.....that will blow all that smoke/fungus/bacteria/ and general crap back into your breathing space.......not a good idea, think of the wife and kid:(

try a vacuum first, better yet hose that puppy down, what makes you think it is going to work after you get all that stuff out of it anyway ?
Well believe it or not the computer does come on, the original problem is that when it is booted it will make it to windows and then reboot, but will boot all the way up in safe mode, so I figured it had a virus I was going to try and get rid of for him but I didnt know it also had lung canser

edit* I cant believe this but the boy just came in here and said "you should use the leaf blower to blow that off with" and I just might try that. :P
omg:blink:how can it even start? lol
IT WORKED!!!! the leaf blower did the trick, and when I brought it back in and hooked it up it booted fine. I am running a virus scan now and have found several infected files....he had a firewall running but no virus protecter :(
good job fritokid

You have to unplug it and do it oudside<_<;)

and never use a vacuum cleaner to get the dust out of a pc!

dunno how powerful a/your leaf blower is but maybe it also works yae
lol, leaf blower has red green written all over it.
actually a vacum with the thread attachment works really well, and a leave blower hits about 200-300 mph... so its not very safe for a comp in it self :/

Quote:Users can use a vacuum to suck up dirt, dust, or hair around their computer on the outside case and on their keyboards. However, do not use a vacuum for the inside of your computer as it generates a lot of static electricity that can damage the internal components of your computer.

This is what i ment
