Folks have probably told you, but have been having some issues with
the blade server that runs your 2 Specialist and CS servers. I worked
on it for a few hours yesterday. It kept hanging at boot screen. I
took it apart and cleaned it up. Then was able to update the LINUX.
The game servers ran all day after that. But this morning it is hung
again:(
So I will have to go downtown again to fix it (which won't be until
tonight). But the drive checked out OK yesterday so I should be able
to get the server data off of there and moved to another machine. I
am going to refund you some from your next payment as the blade has
been flakey for a while now. I am going to get IBM to fix it.
Sorry for the troubles. I will send you another email with the new
server addresses after I get them moved.
Holdouts
Maybe its time to rethink our games, any suggestions or input is appreciated.
I think people still play on the ts servers.
I know zero people play on the cs one.
I haven't played any new mod so I don't know any others.
What a nice guy giving you some money back. I know all the TS guys are holding out till 3.0 thats like the story of the whole TS community. But I've seen new stuff, so I know development is still underway, its not a lost cause.
get rid of the CS server... that one's surely never used:(kinda sucks because i do play CS sometimes and never see people on it when refreshing my favorites.
I would say the same to HL2DM. I'm done putting work into that since no one cared anyway. Miagi was the only one who had played with me on it in recent months. So you can get rid of that if you want.
There are a bunch of HL2 mods out and a few coming out soon, but we would need people dedicated enough to test them out.
Seems like KE and WOW are what the majority play around here nowadays with some Rico thrown in every now and then. That makes it that much tougher to find a game to have a server that more of us can play together. Sad really. For a place thats is supposed to be a community it doesn't feel like one at times cause of all of that seperation.
Don't know if there is one ultimate answer for something right now. Going to take alot of brainstorming with whatever active admins are around plus people from the community.

KB doesn't have linux binaries.. Stefan runs his servers using linux. Would need a host running windows and no one bothered to 'research' that when GRITS said to in the KB thread. :D
Oh we did and the creator/programmer for KB I think didn' t have proper contact info.
Drop the HL2DM and CS. That leaves two empty servers for Hl2 mods, but thats always hard becuase not everyone can run those demanding games..and the hl2 mods are taking forever to get out and be decent really. I know there is Insurgency, imagine CS and BF2 mixed and get a compromise. ALso Dystopia which is pretty cool and out of the box thinking.
And in the future there is TFC2, which I can see getting a good following and being a great game.

That could be fun, seems like a fun, easy and relaxing game..could work for us:)
I played it a bunch a few months ago. It's differant for sure. Though it has been updated since I last played so things may have changed. I will play it if someone wants to get a game together.
Battlegrounds2 is another mod I heard was decent to check out. Seems to have a bunch of servers.
Empires I hear is another decent one to try.
The Hidden seems to have alot of support aswell.
Obsidian Conflict is a cooperative modification created for Half-Life 2. It is a community based mod with focus on fun, cooperative, and physics-related puzzles. The mod has an open story, but is still set in the Half-Life 2 universe. Might also be worth checking out.
dystopias fun, but then again, there are plenty of unused servers there anyway :/
