For those having trouble connecting to gamesurge irc, these servers worked for me:

Kanzi.CA.US.GameSurge.Net
You can just type in mirc, /server ClanShells.DE.EU.GameSurge.net
If the above servers don't work, try the ones here http://gamesurge.net/servers
