CS vs NS - GRITS - 05-18-2004

What games are you playing these days.
Steam
We have The Specialist that I see some of you on.
One Ricochet server, not many of you go to.
CounterStrike that goes through stages of activity, but all the maps are working now so that might change.
Won
Two Ricochet Servers

CS vs NS - soulsolution - 05-18-2004

lol if you get a ns server gl on understanding on how to play..if you are new...i recommend playing by yourself or you will just get booted from a server..ns is a complicated game and i dont recommend it to new comers

CS vs NS - kermit - 05-18-2004

I would suggest making the Steam Ricochet server 24/7 rc_arena. Those don't exist in the Steam world and I believe there are a few regular players now on Steam that can hold their own and prefer arena. Just saying..I would at least try it for a while and see if you can get a possible niche market going. There are too many multi-map servers on Steam as-is. And besides, I would have somewhere to play on Steam ^_^.

I like to play Ricochet, HLDM/Op4 and Sven Co-op. That' s about it...I don't really want to get into too many new games, but I'd probably show up for whatever with the right crowd.

CS vs NS - fritoman - 05-18-2004

I picked NS, I dont play but I bet more people from the community would play on the server if you got one.

CS vs NS - Power and Glory - 05-18-2004

Well I am biased and would play neither. I have my own select mods. I am all for whatever the community wants especially if it means something less stessful as CS has been lately.

CS vs NS - Rulepool2 - 05-18-2004

NS is not a very hard game to learn to play, I'll admit, that as far as first person shooters go, it is complicated, but as far as games go it's still a fairly easy game to learn. You can not learn how to play this game by playing by yourself; exept maybe how to jump and move. In this game, the hard part is learning to work as a team to crush the evil Human race, or eliminate some annoying aliens. The best way to learn is to join a pub and have fun, trust me they wont kick you.

CS vs NS - _Acid_Head_ - 05-18-2004

I've been playing NS a little, it's so easy to learn, I would imagine it doesn't take very long to master. It's all spray and pray.

I never see anybody on the CS server, didn't know there was a TS server, and I never play on the STEAM RC server.

Honestly, I think you're wasting your money for so little activity on all of these servers, I'd just keep the WON RC server :/

So I vote null.

CS vs NS - [CAKE]anonymity - 05-18-2004

I do enjoy NS, i also enjoy CS, hard choices. I still have a lot of learning to do in NS, but im getting more familar with my way around the marine tech tree. Still have lots of learning for the aliens. I bet the best place to learn would be our community. We are all nice to each other and are patient with each other.

CS vs NS - noxious - 05-18-2004

I think a NS server would be fun. I've already got a CS server which I have called home for many months now but the same cannot be said for NS. If it were there I would use it.

CS vs NS - soulsolution - 05-19-2004

well alll i have to say is...the ns server is gonna be just like the cs server..nobody is going to play cause of the rules\chat filters...ns is a diff community than cs..they are more harsh and they dont screw around in servers..if you are a newb goodluck finding a server...i advise you all new comers to read the manual very well

edit> i dont see this ns server working out at all....this game requires more than 4 people on each team to make it balanced....i dont think anybody will be playing on the server just like the cs one

CS vs NS - Gump - 05-19-2004

I'd like to see some ns action going on, but you should probably wait til the next realease, once all the betas are done. I also heard that they're working on the goldeneye mod again. For those that don't know, it's a great replication of the goldeneye game for N64! alot of fun! also, if anyone cares, I love jailbreak, but no one has servers for it anymore

btw, I voted for both
waaaaaa! :bfr:

CS vs NS - [CAKE]anonymity - 05-19-2004

SS the AOL clan server has a swear filter that will automatically gag you for 2 minutes on the first offence. Its combat only and its always full when i play.

CS vs NS - soulsolution - 05-19-2004

well good for that server...that server prob doesnt have as harsh filters as grits has..reason why nobody plays on the cs server is cause #1 publicity...nobody knows its there..#2 the attitudes of the admins..its "do what we say or get the f out"...you must look at what the community wants or gl on running a public server

CS vs NS - soulsolution - 05-19-2004

see thats hwo the rules should be..every server i go to has those rules right there..and i like them

CS vs NS - Wha? - 05-20-2004

Did reinth's post get editted, because those sound really familiar.

CS vs NS - Wanksta - 05-20-2004

I like the CS server. Me, Dragonlady, Gump, and Miagi play there quite a bit. Plus the fB guys play there quite a bit. Your call though.

CS vs NS - jabbahunt - 05-20-2004

I have never played Ns, but i'm sure if SS learned we all can, just put something in there so WAnksta and Dragonlady can drive around and they will be happy. Me I hope there is a porch and Rocking chair,i'll be good.

ps. What is your favorite cheese to go with that whine?:thumb:

CS vs NS - soulsolution - 05-20-2004

ive been playing ns since it came out....the very first release was the best

CS vs NS - Reciprocity - 05-20-2004

It was unbalanced then.

CS vs NS - [CAKE]anonymity - 05-20-2004

Its a good mod, and better have your friends teach you then other people get upset at you for not knowing. Also since im pretty noobish still I still have questions i have to ask in game about how to do this and that, and people dont get upset, they usually awnser me.

CS vs NS - Guest - 05-20-2004

I play mostly rico and ive never been in vads cs or ns server

CS vs NS - Annatar - 05-20-2004

1.04 was the best release...... 2.x the worst. btw it is a harsh atmosphere in ns but the best way to learn is to join small games where everyone is just messing and therefore dont care that ur are messing up comm/gorge/ reswhoring / unintentionally annoying the admin by being new. manual doesnt help much cos manual doesnt specify the tactics that everyone is using at any specific time (they seem to come and go like fashions and if your not in then you get flamed...).

Oh.... most important rule (imo) for ns

DO NOT STATWHORE - just because the server records the kill death ratio doesnt mean you take advantage of having won to camp the spawn points to boost ur stats.

but... after that practical essay... till i get steam working it makes no difference to me.

CS vs NS - Annatar - 05-21-2004

yeh well... theres nothing more annoying than spawning into an ono's stomach. hence my dislike of 2.0, where that move came in, and of statwhores. plus, nancy wasnt a default map on that release, therefore many servers didnt use what i consider to be the best map (maybe not the most balanced, but some of the very best fights happened there).

oh btw.... anyone know why the 3.4a downloads are all screwed?? i just got steam working but can only dl up to the 3.4 patch... not ideal.

CS vs NS - Annatar - 05-21-2004

ignore that last paragraph ive beaten that particular problem... and found a new one.

this little quest is starting to get somewhat annoying.

CS vs NS - Annatar - 05-21-2004

woohoo its working!!!

now i need to refamiliarise myself, starting with the co maps cos theyre all new to me and theyre nice, small and easy to learn.

ill join you guys at some point if your playing ns. or cs. atm thats all ive got installed for steam.

Maybe thats how you administrated, but I have never seen someone on grits talking like that. Except for you. So I don't know what your saying about yourself, but Never and I mean absoluetly NEVER have I seen any admin in cs, ts, rico, or any other game that girts has ever had running be abusive like that. And there are plenty of goof off servers and players. Marks custom maps is a good start for anyone, don't have the IP but it's a good place to get your bearings. Just stay away from the nWo's... they are some crazy arse belguims... I was in the clan but left. They are insane I personally think and are critical of people who are better then them.... I don't know.... But have fun! I vote for both cause I go either way. But this game isn't hard really, just a RTS transfered to FPS... I can't wait till they go solo on their project, gonna be amazing. Soul, just because it was hard for you to get started doesn't mean that it will be hard for others, I suggest that everyone go out and D/L it and get started. If you ever see me on I want you to tell me I suck if i do, and they can be as critical as anything in NS but don't play there till you get good. And filters in NS are stricter than in Grits, On marks you cant say retard..... yet they still have a rather large player base. Have fun everyone!

CS vs NS - soulsolution - 05-21-2004

i didnt say it was hard for me to start out...like i said..ive been playing this game since it came out...i found it easy to learn..but grits will have a hard time with it...most of the servers have filters like..no racial slurs..no dissing others etc..i dont mind that..all i was refering to is..the admins on grits server restrict weapons to please them selvs....if others dont like it leave...they change the gameplay to suit themselves

CS vs NS - Power and Glory - 05-21-2004

Get this back on topic or it will be locked. Do not turn this into another "Let's bash the admins post". If you have a problem with anyone of us bring it up in private with Grits.

I have never seen them abuse ANYTHING. maybe you said to restrict stuff when you were admin, maybe thats the reason your not anymore. But anyway, As i said i suggest this game to everyone, and why would it be hard for grits? she was picking it up quick in game with raz.

CS vs NS - GRITS - 05-21-2004

thanks Relinquish
I am locking the thread, off topic and I do not have to defend my rules nor my admins SS.
Keep in mind I do NOT twist anyones arm that is unhappy.
