Weird lag - SOAD - 06-13-2006 recently i logged on to rico and found that my ping was high. I checked my half life 2:dm ping and it was unusually high also. Today i totally deleted my hard drive backing all that i needed. But even after a hard drive deleted its the same ping. As for my network connection, I havent done anything to change it. I cant seem to find why my ping has gone unusually high. Weird lag - Power and Glory - 06-13-2006 Why would you go to that extreme? I don't see how you HD would have anything to do with you ping being high. Have you tried doing a speed test on any one of those numerous sites that test your connection? Could be your ISP also. Maybe something on their end is being worked on or is down. You could try calling them and have them run a few tests. Weird lag - SOAD - 06-13-2006 I was already going to clean my hard drive before that anyway because i had a virus that couldnt be removed. I figured I would see if it was something to do with the virus since I was going to clean my hard drive anyway. Weird lag - Miagi - 06-13-2006 Could be a router somewhere in one of the hops to the server. Go to start, run, and type cmd. Then type tracert game7.holdouts.com The first hop should have the shortest time. If it's not too long, paste the results for tracert here. Weird lag - GRITS - 06-13-2006 Yesterday, Holdouts was shifting severs around, not sure if that had anything to do with ping or it may just be a coincidence Weird lag - SOAD - 06-14-2006 here are the results : Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] © Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. Weird lag - Miagi - 06-15-2006 You should have a low ping around 80-90... Is it still doing it? Weird lag - GRITS - 06-15-2006 what is 15 79 ms 76 ms 75 ms jellyfish.holdouts.com [64.192.186.24] Weird lag - Miagi - 06-15-2006 The 15 is the hop number. The next 3 numbers with ms after them is the amount of time it took for the packet to reach the host. Jellyfish.holdouts.com is the resolved host name for the followed ip address. Weird lag - SOAD - 06-16-2006 I contacted my internet provider, and was led through steps to try get rid of the lag. It did nothing. My ping is usually constantly around 200-250 although it can also decrease to as low as 50, but can also spike way up to 300-400. Weird lag - Miagi - 06-17-2006 How is your network set up? Routers, hubs. What is connected to what? Oh, and did u try connecting to other servers, or is it just related to holdouts? Weird lag - SOAD - 06-19-2006 My network is cable>modem>router>my connection..... the router also connects to two other computers. And my connection to other servers is the same, meaning its not only the holdout servers having lag. Weird lag - SNOWDAWG - 06-20-2006 try and update the firmware on your router. worked for one of my problems once. Weird lag - SOAD - 06-21-2006 I just updated my Linksys BEFSR41 firmware.... it did nothing -_- |
