Very anoyed - =Scope= - 02-25-2007 nah i dont let friend on computer no more i cant seem to get this comp fixed iv baught new mother board recently in past yr new processer new fan new hard drive it doesnt seem to wanna stay fixed and im out of ideas why Very anoyed - 8-up - 02-26-2007 Are you totaally sure it's your hard drive? Very anoyed - =Scope= - 02-26-2007 Yeah everytime this happens it gives hard drive failure Very anoyed - 8-up - 02-26-2007 What are the specs for the PC? Is it unmodified "out-of-the-box" or have you put your own stuff in it? EDIT: wait...i just re-read it...you put new stuff in it. Are you sure your power supply is pumping out enough power? Very anoyed - smartass - 02-26-2007 Are they maxtor drives? Very anoyed - =Scope= - 02-27-2007 the power supply is wat people at compusa use AMD Sempron⢠Processor 3100+ 1.80GHz, 1.00 GB of ram Very anoyed - smartass - 02-27-2007 ...Maxtor drives have over heating issues, if you are useing them im willing to bet that they are the problem. Very anoyed - fritoman - 02-27-2007 I am having the same type problem with the boys computer....it will run for awhile and then crashes to where the op sys will not load and I get an error message, I bought a new hard drive thinking it would fix the problem and it worked for about 2 months, then I got a message saying that it was missing a file and couldnt start with out the disc, I rebooted and it says there is a hard drive error, so I reformatted and started all over and it will work for like a day and then the trouble starts again. Dawg and I were talking and he thinks I should unhook my second video card and see if it runs for awhile with just the onboard card, I havent tried that yet but when I do I will update you. He also mentioned that I might try putting the "bad" HD in my computer and seeing if I have the same problem, if i didnt then it isnt the hard drive and its something else causing the problems. Have to agree, I had 2 of these go out on me and finally changed, they work fine as second and 3rd drives but not as the main Very anoyed - 8-up - 02-28-2007 I've been using a maxtor for about 3 years with no problems. Maybe it's just a certain type. It is a secondary drive though, but it still works just brilliantly Very anoyed - GRITS - 02-28-2007 I have two maxtors, both went bad on me when they were my main drive and now I use them as slaves with no problem, they burned me twice, thats hard to forgive when you think you have lost everything on your hard drive. Very anoyed - smartass - 03-02-2007 ' Wrote:yes it seems that if any manufacturer makes any sort of mistake, everyone assumes that that mistake is never fisxed and is in every single one of their new products as well Its not an asumption its a fact, Grits had a problem with them a while ago. A friend of mine had problems with ones he bought a few months ago. The span of time between the two problems is like 2 years... im gonna say if you cant get something fixed in 2 years you arent going to. It's also a fact that my maxtor is still running with no problems. Very anoyed - smartass - 03-02-2007 I would consider that luck:P Very anoyed - Miagi - 03-03-2007 ' Wrote:I have two maxtors, both went bad on me when they were my main drive and now I use them as slaves with no problem, they burned me twice, thats hard to forgive when you think you have lost everything on your hard drive. I thought we told u to stop hanging magnets on your computer... Very anoyed - Squish - 03-11-2007 If you really have issues with hard drives overheating there are easy fixes. In my opinion, maxtor>seagate... even if maxtor has heating problems... seagates light on fire... I've seen it at least twice with my own eyes... once in recips comp :/ stupid capicator blew... always the same one too. |
