The important bit of information, unleashed by Doug Lombardi however, concerns Half-Life fans who need all the good news they can get. Apparently expert estimates claiming that H-L 2 would see a September release may not be correct since Valve has confirmed that it is still targeting a summer 2004 release.

Let us hope that Valve will be more forthcoming with H-L 2 news from now on, or at least at E3 so that fans can begin budgeting for the game.

It would be interesting to see how popular the Steam-purchasing route will be compares to the traditional in-store purchase (not that we’ll be able to see the numbers).
