1.7:D
your video card and your ram might be able to make up for the lackluster processor.

Very few programs actually check your specs before installing and make a yeah or nay decision. They reason they
post specs is so that you won't come crying to their tech support that you aren't getting the full 'gaming experience'. If you have a 1Ghz proc like me, then you can easily go up to say a 1.4 or 1.6 for about $40 bucks. Just make sure your motherboard will support that speed. My mobo will NOT unless I update the BIOS (which strikes terror in muh heart). I have a MSI KT6V motherboard with VIA KT600 chipset with FSB 400 DDR 400 a Athlon 2600+ processor, NVidia Gforce 4 MMX 440 videocard 64 MB ram. What do you guys think? Do you think it will run the game OK or do I need to upgrade something to make it run, because I want to be ready when HL2 comes out so I will beable to play it from day 1.

Hey Frit...
Everything here looks kosher but your video card. Your proc is running at 2.133GHz give or take. How much memory do you have for your system? Your video card really is lacking on memory with that 64Mb. I have a Radeon 9000 with 64Mb and I pretty much believe that it WOULD run...but run the game poorly. Kind of like hooking up a garden hose to the fire hydrant; you never get the full power of the water pressure available. Heck....I still have an Athlon 1Ghz proc which I need to get rid of. Go ahead and buy the game Frit and try it. Worst thing that could happen is you have to go buy a new video card. AND HOW BAD WOULD THAT BE??;)

I will start saving now for the card then, wanted a better one anyhow. and as for the game my mom said she is going to get it for me for my B day which is august 4th just in case anyone else wanted to send me some cool crap :D

All my specs are good except for the video card. Its 32 megs and not even a radeon. For about 105 bucks Canadian after taxes I can get a Radeon 9200 128 meg card, but I'm not even sure that will run half-life 2 at all.
Frito aim for a Radeon 9800 Pro or XT 128 meg card or even a X800 Pro orXT 128 meg card. One of those should run HL-2 fine and who knows with the XT versions you might get half-life 2 free:)

I know a lot of people are fretting over not having a good enough computer. And places you make them can be expensive. I have your solution. This site is amazing, completly loaded computers for half the price and VERY VERY good selection for every part of the computer.
www.cyberpowersystems.com Knock yourselves out guys :D I'm running 2.8ghz, 512MB of ram and 64MB DDR nVidia Geforce4 Ti4200 AGP Card

LOL....I think it is funny how Valve has us all under their control. They are like a year late on the game
and people are still having to upgrade their systems to keep up with their delays. THEY ARE IN CAHOOTS WITH INTEL!!!! CONSPIRACY!!

I have a Celeron 700 mhz, 192MB SDRAM (pc-100), less than 1GB free on the hard disc and a 4MB video card.:DI'll have to update my config for sure:P I can't even play HL1 in 800x600:wacko:
07-09-2004, 02:09 PM
CHent.......you will have to lose that Celeron processor. That is your bottleneck....period.
I bought a cheap PC for the office and skimped on the proc. I got it with a Celeron and have regretted it ever since. S L O W everything. I guess there's a reason for it's cost eh?

Gabe Newell posted this day before yesterday, on HL2fallout.
Minimum: 1.2 GHz Processor 256MB RAM DirectX 7 graphics card Windows 2000/XP/ME/98 Mouse Keyboard Preferred: 2.4 GHz Processor 512MB RAM DirectX 9 graphics card Windows 2000/XP Mouse Keyboard
Intel Celeron sucks because it has low cache.
Get a processor with 512k L2 CACHE. Oh and chentvin, consider on saving up for a new computer :P
07-09-2004, 05:41 PM
he got low cash 4 high cache!!!:P
I know... Celeron is not the best processor ever plus it's always over-heating:P
I also need a decent video card (4MB is not a lot:P)... Only things I can keep is the monitor and the mouse:D
1.54 GHz Processor
256MB RAM 128MB vid card WindowsXP Pro Mouse Keyboard !!! wooo!
07-10-2004, 06:28 PM
1.7 GHz Processor (Athlon XP 2000+)
1024MB RAM 64MB vid card WindowsXP Pro Mouse Keyboard I think all I need to upgrade is the video card then I can probably play it very smoothly:rolleyes:

I feel sorry for chent, hes gonna be so lonely on steam rico when HL2 comes out. What do they mean by direct x 9 graphics card?
1.7 ghz AMD, 768 SD RAM, nvidia gf4 TI 4600 128 mb, 80 gigs free (give or take). If my card is direct x 9 i will probably upgrade the processor.
07-11-2004, 03:24 PM
512mb RAM
2.0 GHz Processor Windows XP Geforce 2 (This ones gonna kill me) Mouse Badass Keyboard Quote:What do they mean by direct x 9 graphics card? Go HERE to see which graphics card is DX9 generation. You'll probably need the DX9 to see the stuff like water reflections. Geforce4 Ti is good enough to handle the game smoothly if you don't mind not having those things.^_^
07-11-2004, 09:30 PM
A DX9 card is one that specifically designed to take advantage of that directX version.
Older cards will use directX9 but they will not use it to its fullest because of the cards design.

Quote:Author: LT_Fox_Fire It is a sad day when you HAVE to use Direct3D for your graphics (quality is substandard) instead of Open GL! When is someone going to stand up to Microsoft??

pff. . well I taught my mouse how to do flips. I bet your's can't do any tricks.
