dont open any email attachments or any files containing a .pif after the file name..very bad news if you do

That's a given, because .pif/.lnk are shortcut files.:) But that itself doesn't denote a virus, though 99% of the cases will be... only people like me would send themselves .pif's or.lnk's:)
