Anyone get fps problems?

Often, at least every 5 minutes, my fps suddenly drops to about 10-20 and my screen freezes and when it unfreezes my mouse would go out of control from the lag out.
Its pretty hard to deal with as most of the mods on steam do it but pre-steam games don't.
Does anyone else have this problem of having fps drops in the middle of a game?

fps_max 60 (eyes cant see anymore than that so you're only making it slow down by trying to max it out)
cmd_rate 100
And lower the quality.

i haven't had a problem like that cd. what kind of hardware are you running?

Might wanna check into defragging your hard drive. HD access time can cause lag up in gameplay
as the game looks for data to cache in the memory.
