This is a very long but very good read. Its a guy that went to Microsoft to tell them why DRM is a bad idea.

Its too long to post here so you will have to goto the page to read it but I think everyone should take the time to read it.

Stuff it mentions is why DVDs have region codes on them and other stuff like that.

DRM = Digital Rights Management. You may have noticed that if you used WMP to encode you CD's to WMA's under 98/XP then you'd have seen a popup window about DRM asking if you wanted to transfer your WMA's to your new CPU. This is only really true if you have enabled the option that says to make sure a proper license is used or sommat like that .. I forget the name of the actual option.

if wmp is Windows Media Player.. then I know nothing of it, I don't use that program.
