WOW thats really expensive, for just the little bit that you get.

Yeah I was thinking that myself. I see why Silver is $10 more than Bronze. I was thinking Gold should be $20 more than Silver, but not $30 more.

Silver is the best package IMO. Gold is too expensive. I don't need all of that extra crap anyway.

Plus knowing now that you can burn the GCF files according to Valve I will just buy off of Steam. Plus I can avoid tax and shipping that would have incurred ordering the retail package from somewhere.

I think I will wait for the box version to see what the price is then and then wait for it to come down.

Remember all these prices are for steam download. In other words you don't get CDs or boxes and stuff.

So if in the future you decide that you don't want HL2 anymore you're basically out of luck. getting a good price for it.

They should keep a registry of people who purchase it through Steam, and let them download it as many times as they want (only one set of keys per purchase, though).

At least that way people won't be scared out of buying over Steam. That is, unless they work for a Universal Vivendi subsidiary...

Thats what I'm scared of and thats why I'm waiting for retail. Plus then I don't have to let my parents know I'm buying it.

The prices for retail have been out. Of course you have to do the conversion to Canadian. The regular version is is either $50 or $54. I've seen it differant in a couple places. The CE version is $80.

They do keep track of people who order anything through Steam cause it is tied to your Steam account. If say you had to reformat or got another comp all you would have to is log in and Steam would redownload everything.

Though if you have the ability to burn the GCF files do so to save you the pain and time of downloading everything again.

Never go by anything on store sites, they are usually wrong till the game actually comes out including the price. Just look how badly they have been off on the release date.

Want to make a bet thats how much it will be Gwar? $50 is the norm for most PC games today. High profile games it can be higher like Doom3 which was $54 at most places.

Don't set yourself up for dissapointment and think it will be lower. Maybe they will knock 10 bucks off the CE version but that would be it.

The demand will be huge right through the holiday season. I wouldn't expect a significant price drop until spring.

No matter what price it comes out as I won't bug me, I have no plans on buying it anytime soon. Kind of need a video card first:)
