Might be an idea to get a screen shot of the window that appears... hit ALT-PRT SCN and then paste into your favourite picture editor. Save as bmp or jpg and upload here so we can see what the exact problem it is having.

Have you tried the Add/Remove Programs app in the control panel?

yes have done it both ways and still no luck, windows uninstall and the programs uninstall. now i have deleted the files by hand and it still says that is sees the old file and wants to uninstall it before the reinstall can take place

I had that problem once, did you already delete files from the program? I wasn't able to delete a program because of that.. if that is the problem, re-download and un-install through the add-remove control panel.

Editing the reg is something that should not be taken lightly and should only be done by people that know what they are doing.

I suggested to Frito to just rename the folder and try an install... didn't work.

I suggested to delete the folder.... again didn't work.

I didn't suggest messing with the reg because, I don't know what ones I'm looking for myself and editing the reg is something I don't think Frito would like to try right now.

If I would have been right there with him... well I would have said hi... but I also would have just done all the reg stuff myself.

Something I didn't think of till after the files were deleted was for him to send me the program, I install it and send him the good file.

i edit my own registry and i recommend getting comfortable w/ it so you can do it yourself too...have no fear...whatever you break, you can fix.

i use RegCleaner (it's free)...it makes it so it's not that hard to edit your registry.

As far as I recall, Microsoft had recalled RegCleaner so the only copy you can get of it is on 3rd party sites. Oh and registry editing is fun!:)

i only edited the registry to input new hl cd keys, but i use norton system works "one button checkup" and it has a registy scan and it fixes any incorrect entries by itself, so i don't have to.
