make sure that you go to the beginners quest when you start, it puts a chicken next to your name .... you level faster and people will party you because they get manner points each time you level (we leveled someone the other night 1-23 in 2 hours)
at level 10 you have to pick a specialty so that you will get skill points
you go to the winged guy (Captain Kunabarl) in Moradon and just pick specialty, dont have to really pick it, you say that is what you want and it just starts the skill points you get two with every level so you don't want to miss those.

Actually that whole website is worth earmarking for information. The QUEST are also there and remember you can click on the Q at the top of your game screen for the quest available at your level
