Up loading Avatars

A few people have contacted me with problems uploading their avatars. I'm pretty sure that avatar uploading is enabled, if not it should be now, or at least i'm pretty sure it is. :)

A few details that you need to know for uploading avatars...

The files can only be jpeg, jpg or gif. There are no BMPs, pngs or flash files allowed.

The files can only be a maximum of 50k in size.

The max image size for an avatar can only be 150 pixels wide by 167 pixels tall. Look at my avatar. That is the max size allowed and its under 18k in size.

At the top of the forums you will see a link either
called "My Controls" or "Settings" (depending on
the skin you are using). Click on that link.

That will bring you into the control panel.

To have an avatar (The picture of the robot to the
left is my personal avatar) look down the menu on
the left to "Edit Avatar Settings". Click on that
link.

In here you will have a few options of selecting
an avatar.

1) You can select one of the existing ones. There
are many different ones and soon more will be added.

2) If you have an image already online somewhere
you can link to it directly (as long as the website
allows that)

3) If you have a picture that you like you can
upload it to our forums.


There are a few restrictions thou.

1) You can only use jpgs,jpegs and gifs

2) The max size your avatar can be is 150 pixels wide
by 167 pixels tall. This is the exact same size as
mine and as you can see mine is a good size.

3) No avatars larger then 30k in size. I will be
checking on this every now and then and I will
delete/remove any avatars larger then 30k.

The reasons for these restrictions are to keep loading
times for modem users down as low as we can.


Once you have selected the avatar that you want click
on the "Add this avatar to my profile" button at the
bottom.

At the top of the forums you will see a link either

To have a sig (Some words and/or a picture that is posted
at the end of your message every time you post) look down
the menu on the left to "Edit Signature". Click on that
link.

In here you will see what your current signature is at
the top. Below that is where you put the information
in at.

If you want a picture copy and paste the url for it
into the text box. The at the start of the url put

and at the end of your url put

[/IMG]

If you want your picture linked to a web page (click
on the picture and it takes you to a web page) then
copy and past the url for the site into the text box.
At the start of the url put

At the
end of the url put

Code:

Copy and paste
the url on the image in and at the end of it put

Code:

[/IMG][/URL]

If you just want a text link type in or copy and paste
a URL to the page you want and put

Code:

[URL]

before it and

Code:

[/URL]

after it.

For an e-mail link type in or copy and paste your e-mail
address and put

Code:

[EMAIL]

before it and

Code:

[/EMAIL]

after it.


Here is an example with the code that I used for my sig.
