here is my current PC....

AMD XP1800 (runs at 1.53 ghz)
256 megs of DDR ram (I would like to up this to a gig or 2 of ram at least)
ATI 128 rage pro 32 meg video card (I would like a 128 meg GeForce 4)
40 gig HD and an 80 gig HD (I would like a few 200 giggers that I could swap out just for pure storage)
48x24x48x burner
6x dvd
6 USB slots (2 of them USB 2 slots)
Running Windows XP (so far the most stable OS I have run)

I really like to push my computers hard. My old computer was a AMD 333. I had partly fried the motherboard (The only things that worked on it was the ram slots and hard drive IOs. The USB, parralle ports and the a drive didn't work at all and it had problem booting)

I used to run Photoshop 7, poser 4, bryce 4, winamp and at least 5 or 6 other things all at once on the old system. It usually required a reboot every 3 to 4 hours. I also had to reboot before every game I played.

My current system can do all of that stuff and play games at the same time and not even notice it.

hey man I redid it up quite a bit....it's tons better...but yeah you need some more hardware.

- bout 3 more sticks of ram
- gfx card is well enough (unless you wanna go 3d gfx/rendering crazy)
- sound card...well it's not really there...so yeah we need a badass one (dalcard, luna, creamware, or just a soundblaster audigy will work)
- other than that you're pretty good (well you could use another hd, but who couldn't?)

Mines = ---------System---------

Operating System : Microsoft Windows 98 SE (i hate all newer versions)
Total Physical Memory : 1 stick of 512 meg DDR PC3200

----------CPU-----------

CPU Speed : 1.71 Ghz
Nr of CPU's : 1
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2100
Vendor String : AMD
Bus Speed: 222 mhz

----------Graphic--------------
Geforce 3 Ti200 with an overclocked core speed at 225 mhz from 175 mhz running in an 8x AGP port

other etc:

60 gig 7200 rpm hard drive, 40x burner, 12x dvd rom, 6 usb, 2 of them USB 2.0, soundblaster live, and its all hooked up to a 500 watt surround sound amp of mine.

If i get one more stick of the same RAM my Mobo (An Nvidia powered Asus Board) has a special feature which uses dual channels and doubles the speed of the ram, making it the same speed as more powerful RDRAM. I am also thinking of getting some liquid cooling and overclocking the fsb so the cpu will run at 2.4 ghz. as far as the future of my system, the Geforce FX's are looking pretty sweet, and the AMD opterons look like they are just begging for me to try out one of those 8 processor mobo's i hear they are developing.

actually i think it was, evan, but for some silly reason or another (i like cacti, what can i say?), i started calling him "cactus dude" and then rws sort of took my lead (and shortened it to "cd") so i guess it's starting to stick...^_^

besides, i'm not going to call him "kirby-like creature flipping the bird" in game...thats a type-kill waiting to happen...

P4 2.4 @ 2.6 (don't wanna fork over money for better than stock cooling =D So an extra .2 is far as I can safely go) on an Asus P4B533
768 PC3200 DDR
GF2ti
And that'll do it. I like my 17" flatscreen that runs on a 100hz refresh rate. It's great for the eyes. I don't need to take breaks anymore:)
