I was in the server last night, didn't notice anything... I guess I left before you did. You were drunk and on like 8 zoloft pills... so god only knows what you might have said.
Read very carefully the log that I'm about to post...

Tough situation here... I am gonna just give my 2 cents in and let it be. I was playing minutes before all this occured. I have to agree with Gwar on a few points and as I respect him as a player, a friend, and as an admin he has full rights to do as he sees fit. Acid was kinda messed up last night and we all know he has many hats. This hat was Sunday night movie material. At the same time, these types of problems are beyond the ricochet world. Perhaps Acid does need some sort of therapy, who knows? Perhaps he does things that the rest of us would not do. Perhaps he lives in a world we don't understand, so it facinates us in strange ways. Still.... take away a guy's driver's license. Take away a guy's pot. Let him get fired, let his girl leave, hell write a country song about him! Why take a mediocre half life mod away from him? I like how we are a community, too but can we really be responsible for getting our members help for 'real' problems? If acid disappeared we would wonder, but no one's gonna fly out to LA and look for him. Let him play the stupid game. I hope that Gwar maintains his ground if he feels strongly about it. But I know Acid will be able to play at lmglenop's for as long as he plays. I am not saying there is NOTHING he could do there to get banned, but for now I hope he will visit there frequently. I will still be happy to play with him there. Beastie 
This was not a permanent ban this was a temporary "cool down" 'sober up' ban 300 minutes.

As people know it takes quite a bit to get me pissed off. In posting the logs I show what it took to finally push me over the edge and ban someone. You suggest to let them mess up their own lives, and I totally agree with that. If someone wants to screw them selves out of brain cells, go right ahead. BUT the second that person comes into my life, I have the right to say what I feel. He was talking about drugs and drinking on a server that I have at least a little control over, so I gave him a temp ban. Time to clean up. Maybe time to read the posts here and have reality hit him. If I had been on another server, I would have left. But I don't like being pushed off of a server like that as I know no one else would. Ok, I could mute him. But I would still get half the conversation from others that are there. I could mute them too, but then I would miss the fun comments like "Weeeeeeee" or hey that was a fun ride" or something like that. I don't want to mute people just because they are talking to someone else about drugs. After a while all the people I mute would think that I don't like them because I'm not answering their questions. As an admin I can't really just mute people, I have to be able to hear the whole conversation. I never said take the community away from him for good. I just said that if you know hes high or drunk to just not play him. Maybe help get it through his mind that he has a problem since hes taking anti-depressant drugs, while drinking AND smoking weed at the same time. If hes high and drinking all the time then he has even bigger problems and really should seek out help and since we are a community as you pointed out, we should do something to help him since we can't be physically there for him. He came into a place where I like to hang out because of some GREAT people. I will not be the one to leave when they start acting like he was. Its like the drugies, hookers and pimps that come into a community and basically take it over. I will not let that happen to the Ricochet community. GRITS always knows that if I go too far that she can tell me to stand down on a topic and I will. People talking about drugs and drinking on the server is an example. I brought up that I think we should have a rule against talking about stuff like that on the server. We all talked about it, but did not bring in the rule. I have not taken any action against anyone for talking about that stuff on servers. Acid made personal attacks towards me, the fact that he was doing drugs and drinking was the main cause of it as when he wasn't high or doing drugs he didn't say stuff like that.

Ok guess I should add some to this thread. As everyone knows or at least assumes...acid_head has a soft spot in my heart, although some think the soft spot is actually in my head. I do believe he is a troubled soul and like a lot of us uses online mods to vent and release some of the frustrations of life. He knows the rules and I am sure he understands GB's position and realized it was a temporay ban, once his head cleared. I think it may have gotten further out of hand if he had not been banned at the time, so as far as I am concerned GB did what he knows I would have wanted him to do to maintain the quality of the game and keep other players from leaving the server because they didnt want to deal with the sometimes incoherent rantings. If the time comes that _acid_head or any player is permantly banned his/her name will be posted along with the reason.
Gwarsbane presented his side on blatant conversations about drugs etc to myself and the other admins and it was decided not to restrict the topics on the server and that each individual admin would monitor it as he/she saw fit. As a good admin I can not see GB muting players because he would lose touch with what happened if someone was to complain about something he missed. BUT I have said it before and will continue to say it....Dont mess with my admins. What I expect from them does not include tolerating verbal abuse by other players. Sorry about including your part of the conversation .asm but we don't want people thinking that acid was talking to himself.

Though seriously, I do not want to overreact, but this log reminds me of a similar log taken not too long ago of an irc chat where some teen overdosed. He was doing drugs on his webcam and the people in the chatroom were encouraging him to do more and finally he just collapsed. Some of the kids laughed, others tried to contact him ... his mom was at home, but didn't have a clue what was going on until it was too late. Very sad. I am not implying that people were doing the same thing in this case, but I couldn't help but form a relation between the two. Acid, I don't know if you were even close to that point, but I don't think you should fault gwars (or anyone) for showing some concern here. Clearly, you were not in control during this situation, so there exists a very good chance that you could cross a certain line, either through breaking the server rules or harming yourself (you seemed to be proudly stating how much you had done and were going to do). Maybe this mediocre mod was encouraging him to do more. Also, I could be wrong, but from the logs it looks like you could barely stay on the pads ... you were in no condition to play. If someone was constantly falling intentionally like that, then I would kick their ass off in a second, drunk or not. I agree that this community isn't responsible for solving everyones problems, but it is impossible to put aside some concern. I mean many of you are online friends right ... people care, it's hard not to. You can't just look away. Who knows, maybe something you say is different, it clicks and really gets through to a person. I see people post on message boards all the time saying that they want to commit suicide, and then a bunch of people in the community rally together to talk him/her out of it. Then they come back and say "thanks, I'll be ok." The person could be totally bullshitting, but is it really worth the risk, especially when so little effort is involved on our part? Acid, I'm sure you don't like your use of drugs being in the spotlight like this, maybe it is embarassing. But it will probably happen again if that night repeats itself. If you insult an admin, then obviously you're asking for it. Most CS servers I've played on would reply with a perma ban, and you would be forced to beg to come back. You're a good guy, I know, but we've all seen first hand how good guys all of a sudden can become bad guys (GRITS' carebear rules have me at a loss for words:P ) when they overdo the drugs. I don't know what else to say, but I would read those logs carefully if I were you and then decide if doing that extra amount of drugs is worth it or not.

As I said on the server (it wasn't shown in the logs there), I said to acid "just stick to the pot." It's one thing to drink and do pot (many people here have done each at some point, same with a large number of people in the world), it's another thing to do drugs that are worse, and it's a whole new level of bad idea when you mix them all together. He said something about 8 anti-depressant pills and he smoked 3 of them. Buddy, anti-depressant pills are usually taken in relatively small doses. 8 pills (and smoking 3... that puts it right in your blood stream) is a huge amount, even alone. With alcohol and weed... damn, that's definitely a bad combination. So for that matter, I can understand his actions, he wasn't thinking straight. But yes, it does seem to me that he's always on SOMETHING whenever he comes online. Just chill a little bit bro.
