When sending roses, the language of color has a long history of tradition.
Modern interpretations are multi-faceted. Here are a few.

Red … I Love You, Respect, Courage, Passion, Well Done, Congratulations
Pink … Happiness, Grace, Elegance, Romance, Admiration, Sweetness, Thank You
White … Purity, Secrecy, Innocence, Reverence, Worthiness
Yellow … Friendship, Caring, Welcome, Joy, Gladness
Coral/Pink … Happiness, Desire
Lavender … Deep Love, New Love, Sympathy

Blue I believe means friendship or something like that.

Not sure what black means.

I do a long seach many many months back for a friend that wanted to get a blue rose for someone and wanted to know what it meant.

I didn't find much out as no one that I could find had what blue or black ment.
