you can shoot everything and it does damage, milk cartons, bottles, engine blocks. anything you shoot will have some damage done to it. when you knife the wall it leaves scrape marks and when you shoot dead bodys they move very "life like" and blood still spatters out of them. :thumb:if you throw a nade at barrels they will fly way up in the air and if you are hit by them it will damage you.
If the grenade is close enough it will affect the barrels. If they left the damage on the HE grenade the same, then it really shouldnt affect the barrels at all. You can be five feet from a grenade and it only does like 20 dmg. The dod grenades would be sweet tho.

It can do alot of damage to a house, but it can't actually take out a house.
A fragmentation grenade (what most grenades are that are used) should be able to kill a person in game if thrown close enough to them.
A flashbang should also be able to hurt someone, after all not only does it produce a big bang and some smoke, but it also fires out little rubber balls (least the one group of them that I know of do) that are ment to stun someone. Thats why when kids are involved, unless things are really really bad they will never toss on into the room where they know kids are cause it could kill a child.
Newer flashbangs may have the rubber balls in them, but it's the bang that stuns, and why they aren't used around children. A child's inner ear gets irreparably damaged by the bang (which is loud enough to make you lose your sense of balance for up to 5 seconds).
I'd be worried about rubber balls.. they would bounce (since they would be elastic, or they'd kill everybody ala claymore mine) and that delays entry.
