RWS's Incoherent Rambling

interesting..... and i would have thought it was pron

That actually is way up there, but I didn't consider it since the misspelling is intentional. Kind of like "teh." Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense since it originated from people typing too fast. Pwn is another one that people need to be slapped for, missing O on the keyboard should not have become slang.

On another note, I powered up Morrowind earlier and set my mercantile skill to 100 and 1 through the console. I found that the selling and buying part worked fine. I also checked the forums and found that there HAVE been people complaining about the mercantile skill not working, so I apologize for my uneducated and grevious error, but then again, 4/5ths of the people playing Morrowind say they haven't run into this bug. Some even went to the extent of asking if the bug had been repaired due to finding no such bug. These complaints of the bug didn't start popping up untill after the release of the expansion pack, Tribunal, either. People either didn't notice it, or the bug originated from people messing with the code. I do not have Tribunal installed, and I am running the original version of Morrowind, so I wouldn't know. Half the people on the Morrowind boards I don't trust anymore though; I'm seeing Diviners(Over a 1,000 posts) saying that traders offer you more for an item than the amount of gold the traders have. Hence, they're offering you 3,001 gold when they only have 3,000 gold. This isn't logical or true, play your own god damn game people. If there's anything I've learned through out my short 20 years of life, I've learned that it's ok to be wrong. So once again, I'd like to apologize, for there may be a mercantile bug in the game. I won't retract my statement that Ben being a confused moron though, some of the stuff he posts is ridiculous.

On to other subjects, I'd like to know if anyone thinks I should discontinue this thread. I don't want to waste my time or yours. I created this because I loved reading Beastie's Babbles(Hint Hint, RWS's Ramblings) even though I never posted in them. When Beastie discontinued them, I was sad. So I created this thread and tried to think of the most controversial topic I see discussed in the servers. I came up with Christianity. Then I thought of the most controversial thing in Christianity, Mary Magdalene. Surprisingly, this didn't take off, but I continued onward! Imma set up a poll so people can choose anonymously, and this will keep me from tracing ips.

Keep doing it. Whatever it is you are doing.

If you want controversy, strike a nerve. Nobody here has any serious disposition on that issue, or at least won't voice it.

You'd be surprised what I'd voice:)

I was just being lazy. I didn't wan't to check the spelling of Magdalene. This VLSM business has me tired out. Why am I borrowing two bits to get 60 hosts? That puts it at 64, but the first lengthened subnet uses the sum of the previous ones.... ...so confused...
Reply
#37
you mean all the /24 melarky ?
Reply
#38
Yeah... that's the stuff... (I was talking about a class C, which was the example)
Reply
#39
the /24 simply means 24 bits from the left... as far as I was aware... thus 24 = 11111111 11111111 11111111 00000000 or 255.255.255.0 since 11111111 is really 128 + 64 + 32 + 16 + 8 + 4 + 2 + 1... thus /23 would be 255.255.254.0 :-D
Reply
#40
Yeah, I know that much, I just want to know why the two bits are taken from the host portion in a class C to accomodate 60 hosts, when it was also correct to take an additional bit to accomodate 40, by adding up 1->32. Just when I figure out normal subnetting, Variable Length Subnet Masks come out.

id post an offtopic smiley, but it would be too ironic, considering this thread has no official, topic, at least not right now.

Side note, i loved the hockey games on snes, they were so fun and easy. Sonic was faster then mario, even though it was easier. And mk2 i think is better then street fighter, all though, i lost intrest in fighting games, at mk3 for snes. The donkey know country series was great, although i think they should have ended it earlier.

Anyone else realize that the pop "sensation" Hilary Duff is 15!? I know that one of these days I'm going to accidently switch to MTV, just as TRL comes on. From there I'll see some 29 year old moron interrupting a shitty song in a little graphic in the corner. Said moron will then yell something like, "OMG! HILARY DUFF IS SO HOT!!!11!!" Get off your high horse, pedophile.

as for hillary duff, i say if there's grass on the field...play ball!

well, not really...but look she is selling herself as a sex object don't you think? when i saw her, i didn't know she just turned 16...i just thought she was an attractive young women. i assumed she was 'legal' given the way she was being presented.

is there something wrong w/ her being shown in a skimpy two piece bathing suit jet skiing behind a motor-boat? or taking seductive looking glamour shots in midriffs and whorish make-up? i don't know. i drive by a local high school on my way to college every morning. and these girls are wearing thong underwear and exposing their bellybuttons w/ tight strapless tops and such...it's sending men some serious signals. i'd hate to be one of their dads...lol.

speaking of which, going to college in the warm weather can be seriously distracting (ok...enjoyable is a better word). the women are like wearing the skimpiest clothing. and there are thousands of serious hotties walking around campus at any given time. it's heaven...but is there a problem w/ this? i mean they KNOW they look good in a sexual sense and they are flaunting it for our (men's) attention. they probably enjoy it when we look at them w/ a hungry look in our eyes. is this really how they should be getting noticed at a university? w/ their bodies rather then their minds? if that's not a problem, what about the teens?

btw, i don't think admiring the beauty of a 15 y.o. female makes you a pedophile. now-a-days, i would plead entrapment...:P. but yes, there is a definate line not to be crossed. if you're an adult male and you have never taken a visual interest in a teenage girl, you are a liar...or of the other persuasion perhaps.

first who is hillary duff??? (i don't watch MTV since it is overrun with 13 year old losers, pop shit, and rap crap). second, i don't really wear all that skippy crap, at least not really short shorts, i'm more of a baggy long pants person and baggy long shorts. I'll admit to wearing thongs, but since they are REALLY only seen when about to bedded, you don't have to worry about some pedophile eyeing you up about it. I'll wear the shirts you guys are talking about though. Of course you guys are just as bad, when you walk around with no shirts on or with just a beater on. Of course it is funny how since men are so self-conscience of their package, men wearing tight pants has gone out of style.

That's ok... I didn't even realise the /24 style notion existed till 3 months ago... that would be funnily enough in time for the new job where I have to get technical again after being just a developer for a couple of years...

i dont think tight pants on a male has gone out of fashion, just implies a certain lifestyle about that said male.

There's too many syllables in RWS for it to be the next "beastie's Babbles"

Merely a technicality! Just pronounce it like Raws, you know, like Jaws. Inside joke;). I also take the more random approach.
Quote:but look she is selling herself as a sex object don't you think? when i saw her, i didn't know she just turned 16...i just thought she was an attractive young women. i assumed she was 'legal' given the way she was being presented.
You're right asm, sex sells, but my point is that, she shouldn't be presented(or at all) in such a manner. She isn't exactly the most mature 15 year old, merely dressed up as so. When you hear a 29 year old commenting on a 15 year old's beauty, in the sexual sense, you get uncomfortable, that's simple fact. What exactly is the point of dressing a 15 year old up in such a manner, anyway? I didn't know her target audience was horny older men. From hearing just a tad (Thankfully) of her music, it seems her musical career is geared more toward pre-teen/teenage girls. She even goes to the extent of stating that she cosiders her music "punk." She then continues to say that she considers herself a good role model for other girls, and her music is "inspirational." I'm getting mixed messages here, how about you? On one hand, I think she's trying to tell me that a senior asking a freshman to the prom just to get her "knocked" up, is ok. That's what she wants, right? On the other hand, she's telling me that she's sweet and innocent. This situation reminds me of R. Kelly, but that teenager was merely an attractive girl... The social outlook of what had transpired in that incident wasn't the most accepting. If you were the parents of said child, would you feel comfortable knowing your daughter was out experiencing sexual acts with much older men? I have no problem with her trying to gain the attention of same aged peers, but she needs to experience things in her own time, not rush in face first. I'd rather have a child that dressed conservatively for a couple years, and then started giving "serious signals." With age comes experience, and maybe with that experience, they can make the right choice. Younger people want to impress older people; this quickly leads to peer pressure yada, yada, yada. Back in high school, if you had a choice between hanging out with freshmen or seniors, I think I know what you'd choose.
Quote:but is there a problem w/ this? i mean they KNOW they look good in a sexual sense and they are flaunting it for our (men's) attention. they probably enjoy it when we look at them w/ a hungry look in our eyes.
I love it when they flaunt it, but they are also not teenage freshmen/sophomores. I'm not afraid to admit that when I look at a woman, I don't think of her current GPA. I know seeing attractive women fuels who and who I do not talk to. Anyone who says that they think only of the intelligence and charm of the opposite sex is a lying shit. If this was true, porn would be illegal. I'll also admit that I've seen teenage girls that I thought were attractive, but under the definition of teenager, they could be 18, only two years younger than me. When I think of attractive, I think in three stages: That is one attractive baby, quite the cuddly thing. That is an attractive teenager, he's really becoming handsome. And the final stage: Mmmmmm, I think it's time for breakfast. Hillary Duff is in the second stage, but is being presented in the third stage. She is what I hate most, fake.
Quote:first who is hillary duff???
This would be Hillary Duff.

You're 18 though punk. At that age, I'd been around the block a couple times, as I bet you have.

No disagreement here.

On a side note, who knew there were so many Conor McLaughlins? Finding myself aint gonna be easy. :D

They had a thing on The Man Show a couple of years ago about the guy who doesn't wear a shirt... well, basically they had a lineup of guys inside of glass cases that were examples of guys that other guys don't like. "The Brian Austin Green Wannabe White Rapper" and "The Guy Who Wears No Shirt" etc etc. Anyway, my point is, I don't know why certain guys walk around with their shirt off or whatever... I find it odd and I find I don't like most of them.

That brings me to another point, that all bets are off once society gets near water. If you want to talk about skimpy clothing, dudes with their shirts off, go to the beach or a pool or something. If somebody dresses like that when they are shopping or going for a walk, it's nutty. If you are at the beach, skin must be shown. It's just one of those weird sociological quirks, where a woman in a bikini in the grocery store would prompt a mother to cover her son's eyes, whereas the next day "Hey kids, wanna have a beach day?" I'm not complaining or anything, just pointing it out. I live on the beach, there is nothing but ass around here... good times.

WOW that Hillary Duff is a .........
man I feel for the 18 year old guys anymore cus the girls didnt look like that when I was younger, it has gotten to the point that if you are an 18 year old male you better start asking for IDs before you go out on a date cus at the end of the evening insted of getting kissed by her you might be getting kissed by your cell mate.

well she is the minority, but granted there are quite a few, very attractive, 16 year olds out there, and people do look difrent on camera, and with make up, ect. I would have to see her in person to see if she really looks older then 16.

RWS said she considers her music punk, WTF, its pure pop, the sex pistols must be spinning in their graves.

say you have a son and daughter both in high school. the son comes up to you and says "dad, i've been around the block a few times". i'd be like "that's my boy...go get 'em tiger" (assuming he was practicing safe sex and such of course). the daughter comes up later and says the exact same thing. "you go girl!" is NOT going to be my reaction. i'd feel deeply ashamed and embaressed. it's a double standard, i admit, but it's not completely invalid. if people actually thought about it for a minute, they would probably see why. mothers are usually more forgiving in these situations...but i would rather just avoid the whole situation and not tell my parents about my sex life to begin w/...^_^. it's probably one of those things that your parents want to know but they don't want to know...if you know what i mean.

btw anon...only sid viscous is dead. the other members are still alive. but i dislike the sex pistols...hopefully someone can build a device, so that when they pass on, they will literally spin in their graves forever.

I thought they were all alive, its more about the fact that you can call one thing a completly diffrent thing, similar to the nubs calling cs better then rico, but thats another thread.

I said it to show the outrage that the first groups of punk bands (not to sure where in the spectrum the sex pistols fall, but they have to be early on) feel when some pop princess, calls her music punk, i know if i was one of the fore fathers of punk, i would be flipping out if I heard that.

I had a great post planned, but I just had to reinstall Half-life and I lost EVERY, over 2,500, single one of the frames for my avi. So, I'll post in a week or so when I can motivate myself again. Here are a couple commands I found for clearing up your screen though.
Props to the people over at quakenet #gamingmp for most of the commands.
hud_draw 0 - pretty obvious
hud_centerid 0 - gets rid of the name thing from looking at someone
crosshair 0 - no comment
scr_connectmsg 0 - gets rid of the connect messages
hud_deathnotice_time 0 - no more death notices for j00, thanks to Pique for this one
hud_saytext_time 0 - takes off the comms
r_drawviewmodel 0 - takes off the gun models, etc. Not very useful for ricochet, lol.

If it's 1 in rc, you see a HEV suit holding a grenade.

Yeah, I noticed that. The hud_draw also will not work. I tried removing the tga files for the discs, but that just makes the count down counter appear permanently in demos. I worked around it by just making the discs black and falling at the beginning of a demo to start the counter over.
