What are the specs for the PC?
Is it unmodified "out-of-the-box" or have you put your own stuff in it?
EDIT: wait...i just re-read it...you put new stuff in it. Are you sure your power supply is pumping out enough power?

I am having the same type problem with the boys computer....it will run for awhile and then crashes to where the op sys will not load and I get an error message, I bought a new hard drive thinking it would fix the problem and it worked for about 2 months, then I got a message saying that it was missing a file and couldnt start with out the disc, I rebooted and it says there is a hard drive error, so I reformatted and started all over and it will work for like a day and then the trouble starts again. Dawg and I were talking and he thinks I should unhook my second video card and see if it runs for awhile with just the onboard card, I havent tried that yet but when I do I will update you. He also mentioned that I might try putting the "bad" HD in my computer and seeing if I have the same problem, if i didnt then it isnt the hard drive and its something else causing the problems.

I've been using a maxtor for about 3 years with no problems.
Maybe it's just a certain type.

I have two maxtors, both went bad on me when they were my main drive and now I use them as slaves with no problem, they burned me twice, thats hard to forgive when you think you have lost everything on your hard drive.
